Shahzad ready for call up

Ajmal Shahzad has said he is ready and raring to go if he is given his Test debut against Bangladesh on Friday.

The Yorkshire seamer was named in the squad for the first Test at Lord’s and will be in the reckoning again at Old Trafford.

With Yorkshire team-mate Tim Bresnan forced to miss the second and final Test with a stress fracture, either Shahzad or Ryan Sidebottom will get the chance to impress in Manchester.

And Shahzad, a talented pace bowler, believes he can grab the opportunity should he get the nod.

“I hope I can make my debut on Friday,” he said.

“I have been back to Yorkshire and got a few overs under my belt, 29 of them in fact.”
